Global Refugee Forum 2023: Meaningful participation of refugees?

Susan Fratzke and Hannes Einsporn‘s article underscores the significance of refugee participation in policy decisions, especially during the 2023 Global Refugee Forum (GRF):  “The lack of participation of refugees and their organisations in how policies are made and programs are designed and delivered is an important barrier to more effective, efficient, and legitimate solutions”.

At Upinion, we’re committed to breaking down barriers and ensuring refugee voices are integral to policy discussions and decision-making processes. Through our digital engagement platform, we consistently engage with more than 1000 individuals from both refugee and host communities in Lebanon and Türkiye, feeding their insights and perspectives directly into policy debates like the GRF 2023. Their active engagement is crucial for the much-needed transformation of the current global protection system, a point underscored by the experts of the Migration Policy Institute and Robert Bosch Stiftung in their recent commentary (see here).
